Siza Water (RF) (Pty) Ltd is the water service provider of the Dolphin Coast in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, founded in 1999 and based in Ballito. The company operates under a 30 Year Concession Contract with the iLembe District Municipality. The company employs trained and committed staff members, all of whom collectively ensure optimal water services are delivered by contributing to design, construction, operations, maintenance, billing, and debt collection services for its customers. One of the key assets designed, built, and operated by the company is a direct water reuse plant that produces 3 million litres of potable water.

Infiltration occurs when substances like rainwater, groundwater, fats, oils, sand, nappies, sanitary pads, and other items enter the sewer system, missing or loose covers, low gullies, or illegal connections, such as roof downpipes connected to sewer drains.![]()

The sewer system is designed only for wastewater from toilets, baths, kitchens, and sinks. It is not designed to carry stormwater, foreign objects/liquids.![]()

❌ DON’T![]()
1. Connect roof downpipes or yard drains to a sewer infrastructure.![]()
2. Leave rodding or inspection eyes open or without sealed covers.![]()
3. Install gullies at ground level where stormwater can enter.![]()

✅ DO![]()
1. Redirect roof downpipes to a stormwater system or soakaway.![]()
2. Fit proper sealed, bolted covers on rodding and inspection eyes.![]()
3. Ensure gullies are raised at least 100 mm above surrounding ground level or 50 mm above paving.![]()

🌍 HOW INFILTRATION AFFECTS OUR COMMUNITY![]()
Pump stations overflow, leading to the pollution of roads and the environment. Treatment works are overwhelmed, unable to process all the wastewater, leading to blockages and contamination of rivers, beaches, and the surrounding area. The situation also raises service costs due to higher expenses for repairs, electricity, and maintenance.![]()
